Comments save time and support teamwork
A short note can be extremely helpful in clarifying key messages in a report and, therefore, maximizing the effectiveness of reporting as a whole. At Braincourt, we believe that the quality of a report increases as the number of open questions decreases. This is why almost every Braincourt solution unifies the quantitative and qualitative aspects of reporting.
Making reporting more efficient
Qualitative information rounds out a report and increases its value by adding explanations or comments on:
- KPI variances
- Changes in the market
- Competitor developments
- Changes in the political landscape
The extent to which business users can add comments to their reports partially depends on the underlying technology. “Real” OLAP databases such as Oracle´s Hyperion Essbase or Cognos TM1 (formerly Applix TM1) only offer limited options to handle text because they are optimized to process numbers. If a customer already uses these technologies, we can still create a solution based on a hybrid architecture which combines multidimensional OLAP and relational technologies. This integration takes place in the front end (i.e. performance dashboard) and is so seamless that the users will not be able to tell the difference.
